Microsoft Word is one of the most popular word processing programs in the world, and it’s available in several different versions that span the various computer operating systems and versions. This article will teach you how to download and use Microsoft Word for free, whether you have Windows 10 or an older version of Windows or Mac OSX. I’ll also show you how to find other, similar software options that are available for free if you don’t want to use Microsoft products or if you just want to explore your options.

Step 1: Go to the Microsoft website

The first step is to go to the Microsoft website. Once you’re there, click on the Products tab at the top of the page. Then, under Office, click on Word. You will be redirected to a page with two tabs – one for Windows and one for Mac. Choose your operating system, then follow the installation instructions from there. For example, if you are using Windows: Click on Download Now and choose the download location.

Step 2: Open Word: Once you have downloaded Microsoft Word, open it by clicking on it or by double-clicking it in Finder/File Explorer/Explorer (depending on what kind of computer system you have).

Step 3: Select Language: The next step is to select the language that best suits your needs. To do this, click Options in the menu bar at the top of the screen (the wrench icon) and then choose Languages. A list of languages should appear below this heading.

The window has three tabs across its width: All Languages; Installed Languages; Available Languages. From here, scroll down until you find the desired language. Select it by clicking on it once, then close out of the window by clicking OK. Congratulations! You now know how to download and use Microsoft Word for free!

Next, fill out the required information including your name, email address, and password. Once you have entered all of the required information, click on the Create account button. Now that you have created your username, you can log in and start using Microsoft Word! You can start with creating a document by clicking on the New Document tab located at the top left-hand corner of your screen. After clicking this tab, click on Blank document under New Blank Document. When prompted with two text boxes asking what type of document you want to create, choose Blank document from the drop-down menu below both text boxes. Click OK when finished.

You should now see an empty word processing page with just one default paragraph (type text here). Add some content to this paragraph by clicking inside it and pressing return once or twice until there are some words typed onto this page. Then select all these words by holding down the control (ctrl) and selecting them by dragging over them with your mouse cursor. Press ctrl+c which will copy these words. Step 4: Confirm your email address

After you enter your email address, you should receive an email from Microsoft with a subject line that says, Action Required: Confirm Your Email Address. Open the email and click the Confirm Now button. If you don’t see the Confirm Now button, check your junk mail folder. Once you confirm your email address, you’ll be taken to the Sign In page. Fill in your email address or sign in using one of these other methods:

-A web browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox

-A mobile device such as an Android phone or iPhone

-Windows 8 on your PC or tablet -An iOS device (iPhone, iPad)

-A Mac running OS X 10.6 or later

-An Android 4.0+ phone or tablet

-Windows Phone 7 .5 and Windows RT devices will not work.

-You can now use your Office 365 account with this new app.

-Once you are signed in, start downloading all the Office apps by clicking Install apps. They’re free! You only need an internet connection and a screen larger than 7 inches. So long Google Docs!

Step 5: Search, click ‘download’ & install

You can find many software programs by searching the internet, but be careful when downloading free software. Some websites offer free trials of programs, but then charge a fee to continue using them. Once you find a reputable website offering the program you want, click the download button. This will usually start the download process automatically. If it doesn’t, check your computer’s downloads folder. Once the program is downloaded, double-click it to install it.

Follow the prompts to complete the installation. Now you’re ready to use Microsoft Word! To start the program, go to your ‘start’ menu on Windows or tap ‘Word’ on an iPhone or iPad. When you first open Microsoft Word, it’ll ask if you want to activate it with your email address. Enter an email address that isn’t already in use (you can always change this later) and hit ‘activate’. Then type in your password (again: make sure this isn’t something easy for others to guess) and hit enter. Congratulations! You’ve successfully installed Microsoft Word onto your computer or mobile device.
